Club member spots open + rough timeline + more images...

Hello everyone! I have plenty of information to share in today's update but first I just want to say thank you for your ongoing patience and understanding during these crazy times. I know how disappointing delays can be but I assure you that you will all receive these amazing decks eventually and that they are going to look awesome!

A few member spots available

I'm in the process of finalizing the club membership number assignments based on project backing order. There are a few pledges for the member tier that weren't confirmed due to failed payment methods. So, I have five spots still up for grabs. If you are not currently a club member but would like to be, please send me an email at ace@vandacards.com ...preference will be given based on who responds first.

Centurion Club member coins

The coins are here and they look great! A couple images...

Sticker seal design

Here is the final version of the numbered metallic sticker seal design. Every deck will be sealed (Limited Edition decks will be numbered 0001-0100 and Standard Edition decks will be numbered 0101 and above)

Extra card design

Here is the final version of the extra card that will appear in each deck in the Centurion series (with updated colors and logo for each deck)

Final design of the jokers

After reviewing your feedback from the joker options posted in a previous update, we decided to go with the simpler/cleaner look for the jokers so that they would stand out a bit from the court cards and also be more aligned to a traditional joker look.

Expected timeline

I expect to receive the art proofs this week from USPC. This means we're still 6-8 weeks out for completion of production. In the meantime, all other items (tuckboxes, sticker seals, coins) will be completed so that GW can assemble the decks as soon as they receive the cards from USPC. Assembly will likely take place the beginning of October and rewards will be shipped out shortly after that. So, I'm hoping that you'll start receiving decks around mid-October. I'll keep you updated as we get closer to that time with any updates.

Thanks again for your support of this project! Also, I'll be working on more details/updates for the Stories project in the coming weeks. -David

Still delayed but progress continues...

Hey everyone,

Thank you again for your ongoing patience. We are making progress and these decks will get into your hands as soon as possible but there are still some ongoing delays due to Covid-related production timing as well as my personal schedule. I'm hoping to have more specific information on timeline soon and I plan to share that with you once it's more solidified.

In the meantime, I'm excited to share some details about the next deck in the series, which Victor has been working on illustrations for. It will be based on the civilization of Mesoamerica and here are a few early looks at the tuckbox design progress:

I'll be back soon with more updates on the Centurio deck...

Thanks! -David

Overdue update — explanation and apologies!
3 months ago – Fri, May 22, 2020 at 06:15:22 PM

Hey all,

First of all I want to apologize for not having posted an update sooner as I know many of you are eager to understand what's happening with both of my Kickstarter projects. The past few months have been extremely busy for me and I've been meaning to post an update and keep you in the loop but haven't had time to really organize my thoughts and write an update of any real value. I should have at least posted something short and quick but I didn't and I'm sorry and I promise to keep you updated more regularly moving forward.

Two and a half months ago we welcomed a new baby into our household which has been absolutely amazing but also time and energy consuming. On top of that, due to the Corona virus issues that we're all facing, our older son's preschool has been closed so he's been at home all day every day. And in addition, projects at my day job have gotten much busier. All of this adds up to me being extremely busy and exhausted most of the time and honestly I just haven't had time to make much progress with any of my Vanda projects, which I handle entirely by myself.

The USPC has been closed for a while due to the virus as well, which means delays in all production for all customers on their end. They recently reopened though so the queue should start moving forward at this point.

The good news is that both of these projects will still move forward and the decks will still be produced and sent out as I know you are just as excited as I am to see these get printed. At this point there will be delays and I'm not yet sure what the new timeline will look like yet but I assure you these decks will eventually get into your hands.

In the meantime, I have a few other exciting tidbits to share which I will post about as soon as I can find time to put together all the details on everything. So please stay tuned for some fun announcements!

I very much appreciate your ongoing patience and understanding of delays and just ask that you continue to be patient and I will keep you updated of any progress on my end.

Thank you,

Thank you!! + other updates...

Hey guys!

First of all I want to say thank you so much for supporting this campaign! I'm very excited about this series of decks and I think you're going to really enjoy how they all come together in the end.

Second, I want to apologize for the lack of updates...things have been a bit insane for me lately and I'm trying to catch up a little bit. I've been working with Victor on the details for the rest of the series as well as the outer packaging design and I will share all of this specific info once we have it finalized. One note is that I think we're going to decrease the total number of civilization decks in the series. Initially we had thought ten was a good number but after further consideration, I think it will likely be more like 5-6 total decks. There's a few reasons for this including the total time it would take to create artwork for that many decks as well as the resulting cost for you guys to purchase the full set.

I also want to share the artwork for the jokers...we're trying to decide between the more detailed illustration (left 2 cards) and the cleaner/simpler illustration (right 2 cards). Curious to know which you prefer and why—please post your thoughts in the comments below.

Thanks again and I'll be back with more updates soon...
